West Park Healthcare Centre will be built on a 28 acre campus comprising multiple client specific therapeutic outdoor spaces overlooking the Humber River in Toronto’s west end. The landscape has been designed as a therapeutic tool for use by staff and clients.
The Central Plaza outside the hospital’s main entrance provides a community destination for farmer’s markets and West Park’s annual Festival of Lights.
The West Lawn links the new hospital with the existing ravine edge. A series of therapeutic trails link together a variety of amenity spaces including a Cafeteria Terrace, Amphitheatre, Rehab Plus Track, Meditative Spaces and Spiritual Care Gardens.
Secure therapeutic courtyards have also been designed for various programs including Acquired Brain Injury, Rehab Plus and Tuberculosis. Several upper floor terraces that are immediately accessible from program areas overlook the West Lawn.
